I trained as a Makaton Tutor in 2002
Prior to that I worked in the training department of a major retail bank, where I designed, wrote, delivered and developed training material for use within the organisation. I have good reason to be highly motivated by the benefits of the use of the Makaton Language Programme as I have first hand experience with my daughter, who communicates using Makaton. I use this personal knowledge and experience during the Makaton Workshops I lead. My adaptability has enabled the tutoring skills learned during my time at the bank to be easily transferred to the environment of training people who live and work with adults and children who have communication difficulties. I have now complemented these tutoring skills with a nationally recognised teaching qualification. I completed the Certificate in Education at the University of Portsmouth in the summer of 2005
