Enhancement Workshop The Enhancement Workshop is for practitioners who have already attended the Foundation Workshop and wish to broaden their communication skills. Makaton Signing Stages 5-8 are taught along with developing learners’ skills in interpreting the individual signing styles of Makaton users. At the end of the Workshop learners will be confident to expand the self expressive communication skills of Makaton users in their care. Total teaching time is 18 hours which may be split into 3, six hour whole days, or 6 modules of three hours. Follow-up Workshop for Parents and Carers This workshop is for parents and carers who have attended the Beginners’ Workshop. It covers signing stages 5-8 and is based on the Enhancement Workshop, but with less technical information. Emphasis is on developing communication skills and self expression in every day situations in the home. Total teaching time is 11 hours which may be split into 2 whole days or 4 modules as required. |
